“It’s not jazz if you can’t swing,” said Director Rocky Winslow when describing the title of the Jazz X-Press’ upcoming concert

Swing Swing Swing will feature multiple solos and swinging jazz music, as well as some special guest artists. The performance takes place Saturday, Oct. 21 beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Harlen Adams Theatre.

“Great music and some world class performers,” said Winslow. “It doesn’t get much better than that.”

Many talented soloists will be featured in Swing Swing Swing, ranging from experienced jazz musicians to outstanding new freshmen.

Guest artists include New York resident and tenor saxophonist, Mike Newman, as well as drummer Ted Carrasco. Both are Chico State alumni and have been traveling the world as professional musicians since graduation. Winslow is looking forward to playing with his former pupils during Swing Swing Swing.

Jazz X-Press soloists will include Aman Cowell (trumpet), Roxanne Winslow (trumpet), Tim Knight (guitar), Sage Mitchell (guitar), Anthony Panne (drums), Chris Thorne (lead alto saxophone) and Ryan Heinz (tenor saxophone).
