The Janet Turner Print Museum presents And the Award Goes to… A Survey of The Turner Collection Winners January 25–February 20, with a talk by Turner Curator Catherine Sullivan and professor of art, printmaking, Eileen Macdonald on Thursday, January, 28th at 5:30 p.m. in Rowland-Taylor Recital Hall (Performing Arts Center 134) on the CSU Chico campus, followed by a reception at the Janet Turner Print Museum, Meriam Library.  Both events are free and open to the public.

For a collection to remain vital, it must have the ability to re-contextualize itself. This happens with curatorial practice in exhibition development and by carefully selecting new additions. As a study collection, The Turner Collection's overarching depth and breadth is the demonstration of variety, diversity, technical acumen, and artistic intent. Janet Turner’s original donation currently accounts for half of the total collection, and other judicious voices have added resonance to the collection's development. The first exhibition of the spring semester, The Award Goes To... examines the choices made through key Turner programs, such as the National Print Competition, The Turner Prize for Excellence in the Arts, and the annual Juried Student Print Exhibition. As the exhibition mission of The Turner is to explore printmaking as art through its collection, these periodic admissions add distinct relevance and refreshing insight into contemporary art. Come see what you think!

Additional exhibition prints are displayed in cases on the first floor of Ayres Hall.  For additional information or to schedule a special group tour call the Museum office, 530-898-4476 or email Catherine Sullivan, curator - csullivan@csuchico.edu.  Visit the Turner Museum on the web at www.janetturner.org  and Facebook at www.facebook.com/TheTurnerPrintMuseum.
